Last Updated on April 18, 2023 by Paul S.

We need the longest truck beds in order to fit as much stuff as we can in our vehicle!  We do this so we can save time and limit the number of trips we have to take.

In this article, we are going to provide you with the longest bed trucks on the market so you don’t have to go searching through all the dealer websites and checking out all the specs!

Before you start reading it is important to understand that all of the measurements provided below are for the length of the truck bed on the floor.  This is how they are typically measured by the manufacturer.

Here we go!

Toyota Tundra

Toyota Tundra Bed

The Toyota Tundra truck bed kicks off our list at 97.2 inches.  This truck bed length is only for the double cab so if you want a larger cabin then you will need to take a look at the Crewmax.

The width of the bed is 58.7 inches wide and that provides a total of 77.3 cubic feet of cargo space.

The double cab rear seating legroom loses 8.3 inches compared to the Crewmax so that you can have a larger truck bed.  If you don’t care about people squeezing in in the second row and more about your equipment and tools then the double cab could be right for you!

Ford F-150

Ford F-150 Bed

The Ford F-150 is one of the most popular trucks in the USA.

Ford Motor’s F-Series pickup will remain America’s best-selling vehicle for a 40th straight year in 2021 and the industry’s top-selling truck for the 45th consecutive year, the company said Thursday.

Along with its popularity, it has a decent sized truck bed that Americans have come to love as well.   It measures at 97.6 inches or 8.13 feet.  The width is 50.6 inches wide and combining all of that together you get a total of 77.4 cubic feet of cargo space.

If you love Ford but the F-150 isn’t enough keep reading to get to the Super Duty Super Cab truck bed.

Chevrolet Silverado 1500 bed length

Chevy Silverado

The Chevrolet comes in at a respectable 98.18 inches or 8.1 feet of truck bed length.  This is only the case for the long bed truck and regular cab only.  The width is 71.4 inches and the total volume of the truck bed is 89.10

With the Chevy Silverado being a top 3 seller in the USA you can depend on its reliability and strength.

Some of the bed features are the following:

  • The bed is built with high-strength steel and comes with 12 tie-downs to help secure your large loads and keep you and others safe on the road.
  • There is an EZ lift power lock and

Ford Super Duty Super Cab Truck Bed Length

Ford Super Duty

The biggest difference between the Super Duty and the F-150 is going to be the towing capacity and the payload capacity.  But there is a difference in the truck bed length as well.  The truck bed length for the Super Duty is over one foot in length more than the F-150.  It is 98.1 inches or 8.17 feet long.

This truck bed is the third-longest on our list and it fits the beastly look of the Super Duty Super Cab. The width is 66.9 inches and this makes the total volume of the box 78.5 cubic feet.  The Super Duty was made to perform super hard work with heavy loads day in and day out.

GMC Sierra 1500 Long Box

The Sierra has been manufactured in Detroit since 1988.  Giving it plenty of time for refinement and even making it to the #9 spot for the top-selling vehicle in the United States in 2020.  See this article from CNBC.

The longest bed/box you can get in the Sierra is 98.2 inches or 8.18 inches and that is for the regular cab.  The width is 71.4 inches and the depth is 1.82’ so that provides a total cargo capacity of 89.1 cubic feet! This makes the Sierra the second-longest on our list and only 0.1’ away from the Ram which is up next!

Dodge Ram 2500

Ram Trucks

The Dodge Ram truck bed takes the top of the list and comes in at 98.3 inches or 8.19 feet.

The width is 66.4 inches, the depth is 20.2 inches and that provides a total of 74.7 cubic feet of cargo volume.  While the Ram gets the claim for the longest truck bed you can see that its cargo volume is less than the previous two trucks.

Conclusion – Longest Truck Beds

A lot of numbers were thrown up on the longest truck beds but let’s do a quick comparison to save some time and your fingers from scrolling back and forth.  Here is how each vehicles truck bed stacks up with length, width, and cargo space:

  • Toyota Tundra:
    • 97.2 inches long
    • 58.7 inches wide
    • 77.3 cubic feet
  • Ford F-150:
    • 97.6 inches long
    • 50.6 Inches Wide
    • 77.4 cubic feet
  • Chevrolet Silverado 1500
    • 98.18 inches long
    • 71.4 inches wide
    • 89.10 cubic feet
  • Ford Super Duty Super Cab
    • 98.1 inches
    • 66.9 inches
    • 78.5 cubic feet
  • GMC Sierra 1500
    • 98.2 inches
    • 71.4 inches
    • 89.1 cubic feet
  • Dodge Ram 2500
    • 98.3 inches
    • 66.4 inches
    • 74.7 cubic feet

If you take a look at the numbers, the GMC Sierra 1500 loses a little length to the Ram 2500 but makes it up in width and therefore jumps up the total volume by 14.4 cubic feet.  Even the Ford Super Duty Super Cab has a larger truck bed volume than the Ram.

Just remember that long truck beds typically mean shorter dimensions inside the cab.  But if hauling equipment and materials are more important than hauling humans then the long bed trucks are your best bet!

Always drive safe and secure that load in the back!
