When you are looking at a 2022/2021 Ford Raptor it is best to understand the ground clearance and that the ground clearance is dependent on which specs are chosen.

The ground clearances can range from 8.3 inches to 9.4 inches.  Even at 9.4 inches, you may not be that impressed but by adding the Raptor 37 performance package it can raise you up 2.6 inches by adding 37 inch tires.  This little modification gets you up to 12 inches of total ground clearance, making you almost unstoppable on the moderate trails.

Here is the breakdown for each Raptor and its Ground Clearance:

  • 6.5 ft styleside bed & 4×2 drive system: 8.7 inches of ground clearance
  • 6.5 ft styleside & 4×4 drive system: 9.4 inches of ground clearance

2022/2021 Ford Raptor SuperCrew

  • 5.5 ft styleside bed & 4×2 drive system: 8.5 inches of ground clearance
  • 5.5 ft styleside & 4×4 drive system: 9.4 inches of ground clearance
  • 6.5 ft styleside bed & 4×2 drive system: 8.2 inches of ground clearance
  • 6.5 ft styleside bed & 4×4 drive system: 8.8 inches of ground clearance

From reviewing those specifications, the ground clearance raises up if you want the 4×4 over the 4×2 because it is assumed you will be taking it off road and need the extra clearance.  If you are debating between the two I would go for the 4×4 because as soon as you get that thing you are going to want to take it off road!

Here are some typical weight ranges for objects that are towed by Trucks.  You can match that with the towing capacity of the model you are interested in to see if it can safely pull it.  Some of these weights are unloaded weights so be sure to do the math if you want to load up the item with extra equipment or toys.

So, make sure you know your specs and understand how each spec could affect the end use of your Ford Raptor.  Especially if you plan to offroad it, you don’t want to be stuck with a 4×2 truck with only 8.3 inches of ground clearance.  You will not get too far on the trail!
